About Us

Star Buick-GMC was always a Star, but started out in 1970 as Ranken Pontiac, owned by John Ranken. In 1971 his son-in-law, Clete Landis, joined John to run the business in a small place next to the bus terminal in downtown Easton, that had previously been an Acme. They quickly outgrew that location and moved into a brand new building at 25th St. Shopping Center, in Easton in 1975.

            Ranken Pontiac quickly became the #1 Pontiac dealer in the entire Philadelphia zone, and was remembered by the community for their "Ranken Ranken Pontiac Pontiac" radio ads.  

            In 1985 John Ranken retired and Clete became the dealer, and renamed the dealership Star Pontiac. Star continued to grow and also acquired GMC Truck. 

            Once again, in 1997, Star moved to a new location on Rt. 33 due to their continued growth.  Holly Jarrett, Clete's daughter, joined him in the business, first as a finance assistant, then as a service advisor, and finally the Service Manager. She then became the General Manager, which is her position today. 

            In 2008 Star acquired the Buick franchise and continued their history of being the #1 GM dealer in the Lehigh Valley, as well as the #1 Pontiac-Buick-GMC dealer in the entire Philadelphia Area.

            They acquired additional property adjacent to the New Vehicle facility, and opened a Pre-owned store there. The Collision Center had outgrown its space located with new cars so it is now in the expanded building with Pre-owned vehicles. 

            Clete's son, C.J. also joined the family business in 2002, as a Finance Manager and then became the GMC manager in 2005, and helped put Star in the Top 10 in the Northeast Region. He served in that position until 2007 when Star Pre-owned of Hellertown opened at the former site of Carol Landis Chevrolet, and he became General Manager. 

            In 2009 Star Pre-owned of Bethlehem opened at Rts. 22 and 512, which also has a service department and a body shop. They sell all make vehicles, but have a strong focus on imports. 

            With THREE Pre-owned Vehicle locations, Star can now accommodate  the needs of everyone looking for the largest selection of Pre-owned Cars and Trucks, both domestic and import, in the entire Lehigh Valley, as well as meet their needs for a new car, truck, or commercial vehicle.

            Star's Service Department and Collision Center, as well as the New Vehicle Department have received many awards over the years, distinguishing Star as a GM Master Dealer and Dealer of the Year. They are able to meet all vehicle needs, whether it be sales, maintenance, warranty, or repair work, that anyone may have, all accomplished by their customer focused teams.
